Singapore University of Social Sciences ("SUSS") Privacy Statement

This Statement describes the information practices and how SUSS processes your personal data when you interact with us through SUSS’ websites and apps, including mobile websites and applications that are accessed (collectively, the “Site”)

SUSS collects personal data to properly perform the teaching, learning, research, administration and other functions of a university.

If you are only browsing this Site or using the Search function, we do not capture data that allows us to identify you individually.   This Site automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, cookie information and the page(s) requested.  Although user sessions are tracked, users remain anonymous.  You may choose to disallow cookies through your web browser settings but doing so may prevent you from using the full functionality of this Site.

If you choose to submit a request using our online form or send us an e-mail containing personal data for us to process the request or render you a service, we may share relevant personal data within SUSS, or, if necessary, with Government ministries/agencies or other universities, so as to serve you efficiently and effectively, unless such sharing is prohibited by applicable legislation.  We may need to disclose personal data as required by law or a court order.  SUSS will not share your personal data with private entities except where such entities have been authorised by SUSS to carry out specific services our behalf (“authorised entitites”).

For details on SUSS’ management of your personal data, please view SUSS’ Personal Data Protection Notice.

For your convenience, when you are carrying out a transaction on this Site, we may display to you the data that you had previously supplied to us, Government ministries/agencies or authorised entities.  This is intended to save you time and effort in having to re-key the same data.  If the pre-displayed data is out-of-date, please provide the updated data.  SUSS will retain your personal data only as necessary for legal or business purposes.

SUSS has put in place appropriate security technologies, policies and procedures to secure the electronic storage and transmission of personal data.  Whilst we make every effort to secure our networks, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure and SUSS cannot guarantee the security of your personal data transmitted through online means.  You are, therefore, strongly advised to take safety precautions and any transmission remains at your own risk.

This Site may contain links to other independently-managed websites within the SUSS network and to some sites and resources outside the “suss.edu.sg” domain whose data protection and privacy practices may be different from ours.  SUSS is not responsible for the content and privacy practices of these other websites and you are encouraged to examine the privacy notices of these websites.  SUSS does not in any way, expressly or implicitly, endorse the linked sites or resources or the respective contents thereof.  SUSS shall not be responsible or liable, whether directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or sustained by or alleged to be caused or sustained by the user, in connection with the use or reliance on any information or material available on such linked sites or resources.

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal data online – e.g. on message boards, through e-mails or in chat areas – that information can be collected and used by others.  By posting personal data online that is publicly accessible, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.

If you have queries on how SUSS deals with personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, please contact our Data Protection Officer at DPO@suss.edu.sg.

To ensure that we properly manage, protect and process your personal data, we may update this Statement from time to time at our absolute discretion.   Please periodically check this statement so that you will remain updated on any changes. This Statement was last updated in October 2022.
